Our holiday ornament fundraiser just leveled up—twice! A huge thanks to Lindsey Piffer and Affinity Credit Union!
Lindsey Piffer is a mom whose daughter spent the first months of her life in the NICU. "When she was born, she was not able to wear any clothing for about two months," Lindsey says. "So hats became her fun wardrobe and brought a much-needed smile to my face. Once she was out of the hospital, I was reminiscing one day, and it dawned, 'I need to start making hats so I can bring that same joy to others!' So that’s where all of this came from. Once my daughter was old enough, she has gotten involved with picking out colors and patterns."
In honor of her daughter's birthday in early December, the Piffers donate knitted hats in three tiny sizes to Des Moines NICUs. And this year, Lindsey reached out to Cradling New Life about pairing a hat with every donation ornament! We are beyond thrilled for all 178 NICU beds at Mercy DSM, Blank, and UofIowa hospitals to receive an ornament and an adorable hat handmade by Lindsey! Thank you for this generous, cozy, adorable gift, Lindsey!
Lindsey makes the hats for donations only. She doesn't have a business or Etsy shop. "My couch is my office where I make all the hats," she says. "None are ever sold."
Another amazing partnership is with long-time CNL supporter Affinity Credit Union. Again this year, Affinity is offering a donation match! Beginning Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 2023, the next 50 ornaments donated will be matched, meaning your donation will be doubled! What an amazing way to give back and support the Iowa community, Affinity!
